Hundreds of people turned out at the statehouse today to show their support for defeating Obamacare. The other side? Well they turned out too to show their support because they were offered free food to do so. Does that not just say it all? They have to give their side a handout in order to get them to protest for another handout.
I can’t think of anything that could be further from the free market than Obamacare, but give it time and I’m certain someone will come up with something.
The real problem is that healthcare was already so far from the free market, that the step to overall government control wasn’t much of a leap. Even if we are successful in completely shutting down Obamacare, what do we do with the current healthcare system? That is a conversation we must have, but for now, I believe if government healthcare could be held off just another decade, the odds of it coming back would be greatly reduced for a long time.
Technology is now coming together with healthcare in some amazing ways. There are numerous healthcare devices, not only being developed, but some already in use with your smart phone. We are so very close to being able to get devices to monitor our health for a fraction of what they used to cost, using your smart phone as the system to read, process, and forward information to your doctor, saving valuable time as well as money on both the system and the patient.

These technologies are not being developed by the government. They are naturally being developed in the free market. This is just the beginning; technology is also getting to our genome and we are on the verge of being able to quite literally tell your healthcare future. This video from TEDx is a bit longer, but quite fascinating.
We are looking forward to continuing the conversation on healthcare.
